Lucky Chair Updates

The Crimson Shadow Lucky Chair (SLurl) has a new prize simply called Coat, but as you can see in the picture it is more than that. A cross chest tattoo is included as are shorts and a spiked collar (not shown). The boots are extra (these are the Ana thigh-highs) but many different styles would work well with this outfit. Time between letters is 20 minutes but there is usually a crowd because everyone knows that CS stuff is great.

Bare Rose has a new location for it's Lucky Chairs (SLurl) and you'll find a Lucky Fortunes there, too. A variety of prizes is available now, including a rather cute handbag, shoes, clothes for men and women, and more. Times vary in the five chairs, some as quick at two minutes! The setting is scenic and a building near by has some nice, affordable skins.

The PoP Dept. Store (yes, a shameless advert, I know) has upgraded their Lucky Cupcake to a Lucky Chair (SLurl) and to celebrate the prize is a Bamboo Bar set, a nice compliment to any tropical beach or club. Twenty minute timer but it is already proving popular so odds are someone is there to bump it. Lucky Tribe members also get 25 Kudos.

New @ Bare Rose for Furries

Bare Rose sends out notices about new items on a pretty regular basis, but I guess not everything gets announced so it pays to visit the new items section now and then. That is where I found these really cool bits for Furries (SLurl). The Digi Denim is L$65 and is six pairs of pants plus sculpty bell bottoms designed to work best with the hind paws of a Furry avie. Look close and you'll see the airbrushed pant leg art. The box on the bottom, Digi Cavalier, is L$85 and, as you can see, is a nice set of piratey boot for Furries.

Visible just behind is a set of tiaras, necklaces, and earrings for L$120. Really delicate prim work on these items.

Take your time checking out all the new stuff. In the time it took me to write this post the Raffle Ball thought I was pretty Random two times. Wooters for freebies!

Bare Rose Holiday Hunt Preview

Lucky Kitty Crew Exclusive Report - Bare Rose (SLurl) has a fun Holiday Hunt in the works and I was lucky enough to know someone who snuck me in for a preview. It starts with a note card that essentially tells you where the first prize is, but not exactly where. You have to do some hunting based on clues in the note card. Each prize is part of an outfit so you have to gather them all for a complete set. When you arrive at each location you should click the Info sign, choosing a language for the note card. Read carefully, this is your first clue.

Bare Rose Black Santa (boy) - You will get parts of a boy's outfit and a girl's outfit in each prize so you'll eventually want to set up folders for each. These Black Santa outfits are first. A gift sack with pose animation and hat are part of the first outfit.

Bare Rose Black Santa (girl) - You will also get more note cards (in many languages) with a landmark and a clue to the next prize. I'm not big on femme outfits, but this one is great. I plan on wearing it often.

Bare Rose Flurry Red (boy) - This is the next outfit and like the Black Santa, the boy's and girl's parts are mixed together. This reminds me of last year's outfit or one very similar that I got last year from B@R. Very punk in my eyes but I'm not one to know fashion. I just know I like this one.

Bare Rose Flurry Red (girl) - And this one, too, the girl's version. June Dion (the Bare Rose owner and designer, if you didn't know) is quite creative and has a unique style. The quality is great, too, with well-aligned textures and prims that need very little adjustment.

Bare Rose Hooded Red Coat - Don't tell anyone, but there is a bonus prize if you track down a thieving reindeer. This coat just plain rocks. The pet you see on my shoulder is included. Very cute.

Serenity will be sending an announcement when the hunt is open to the public, but Bare Rose members get to sneak in early. Show up at B@R's main store wearing an outfit from the shop and ask any store rep for a group invite. Not only will you be able to start the hunt early but you'll have access to an exclusive sandbox and cafe (built by our Serenity) for VIPs ... extra prizes there!

Bare Rose's "I'm Home" Set

Bare Rose has a unique "furniture" set called I'm Home (SLurl). It is actually an outfit of clothing in several colors, too. The idea is that you lay down prims in the set to look like you've shed your clothes and then tiredly laid down. A cute B&W tank bra and several sets of undies are in the package, too, unless you want to lay butt-nekkid (Censored not included).

No, it is not free, but I think it is well worth the $140 I spent. And at 19 prims to display the whole set it might not be for everyone. Very, very clever.

Bare Rose Prize Winner

[20:47] ::: BareRose ::: Raffle Item Orb shouts: performance2 Tester has just won a ::: B@R ::: Camo Pants just for being here!

Any avatar with the last name Tester is a 'bot, a resident controlled by artificial intelligence, not by a human at a keyboard. Well, not always. Torley Tester is an account run by Torley Linden and his intelligence isn't likely artificial. However, the performance series are automatons that roam the grid testing performance. You may see them attach a torch or a popgun before sinking into the ground.

Or you may see them be random enough to win a prize at Bare Rose.

B@R Does It Again!

A new outfit for Halloween, the Pumpkin Elf, is in the Freebies section of Bare Rose (SLurl). I don't see why it can't be worn by women, too. It is very festive.

Many other nice things were announced today, too, so be sure to head on down soon! I'm gonna go get this combo outfit and furniture called I'm Home.

Freebies for N00bies #1

New residents in Second Life™ have many options for getting kitted out well but for free as quite a few blogs have already pointed this out. So why am I going putting in my 2-cents worth? Well, I did promise Serenkitty that I'd do my best to blog every day and I like to help Noobs, so here goes.

The Bare Rose Clothes Adjusting Resource Center is one of the best places for Noobs to start so I make sure everyone I give my custom New Player Starter Kit to gets an LM for this place (SLurl). As the name implies, visitors will learn how to adjust clothing, specifically with a nice coat (and shirt and pants!) given at the start. As you can see the tutorial is offered in several languages and so should be a big help to a wide variety of users.

There are several clear, well-illustrated 'stations' showing how the user can adjust parts of the outfit one-by-one and plenty of pose stands so a number of visitors can work simultaneously. Even with the excellent facilities a visit here would be well worthwhile just for the outfit. It is very nice (i.e., typical B@R) and quite versatile. Did you get yours yet? No? Go get it and run through the tutorial even if you are an experienced resident. It will be worth your time.

If any LKC members would like to recommend a place that is great for Noobs, drop me a note card in-world and I'll try to feature it. Or leave a comment here. I'll try to check as often as I can.

Editing the Viking

This is the new Viking Girl outfit from Bare Rose. Simply fabulous! It was released today for only L$140 for Pink (shown), Brown, and Black -- a bargain! Not shown: either of the optional swords. Shoes not included, but most sandals would be appropriate. The hair is ETD's Chandra in Burnt Honey. I'm standing on the big viking boat at the Isle of Lesbos Mall.

Like most outfits, the attachments needed some adjustments and that got me thinking: Items with many prims can be hard to adjust as you can see in this picture. All the blue outline can be confusing and make it easy to lose the X,Y,Z handles that need to be dragged. Notice that Show Hidden Selection is checked in the Tools menu. After adjusting, don't forget to detach then reattach each object when you are satisfied with the changes. If you crash before successfully logging out, none of the changes will be recorded.

This is the same view, but with Show Hidden Selection unchecked. Much cleaner view. Much easier to adjust complicated attachments, especially if you are going to edit linked prims. Of course, this is also great for anything you are building or editing, not just attachments.

Bare Rose Scarlet Yarn Hunt

Reminder: You have until Sunday, July 27th to complete the Bare Rose Scarlet Yarn Hunt!
