Sure, the working conditions are pretty good (I mean, how many people can float around in a warm ocean while working?), but trying to keep up with Group paperwork isn't always fun. Between working membership rolls for several groups, notices posted from those groups and more, and the unending IMs on all manner of topics from more people than I personally know, my Instant Messages often cap a couple times a day. When I can I just leave my avie logged in to catch all the messages. I'm sure many of you are in a similar boat. Imagine poor Serenkitty's inboxes!
Please! When contacting me or other LKC officers, please send note cards. I leave my LL-created Note Card folder empty (having moved all the cards I keep to another folder) just so I can see new ones. I'm sure I'll still find the need to float around while digging through logs and e-mail boxes to find missed messages, but hopefully I can cut back on this use of my time.
Thanks for your help! Now if I can get a ban on "blind" offers to rent in other people's malls ...
(Like the 'kini? It's from Nanogunk (SLurl) and was free at one time. The shop has some other nice freebies, too.)

Ringtail Avie from Curious, Inc.
Serenity made me do it. She made me break out my storage alt to do this review. All my groups were full so I used (Name Withheld to Protect the Innocent) to join Curious, Inc. to get this Beta copy of a new Ringtail Lemur (Web) avatar. I should say "really nice Ringtail Lemur avatar" because it is very, very good. It may be a Beta release, but so far I find nothing wrong with the texturing (absolutely fabulous, actually) or prim work (fast rezzing sculpties). There is no HUD or complimentary clothing as you often find with Furry avies, but it's Beta (remember I mentioned that) and it's free! A note card in the box states that "the final version will have a fancy HUD" so don't worry.
And you can get a basic HUD to control eye color when you get the avatar itself. How do you do that? Join the group (use the Groups tab after clicking the Search button to find Curious, Inc. then click the group name then the View Full Profile Button then .... c'mon! You can do this. I'm gonna get IMs, but try it.). Look in the Notices section of the Group Info pane to get the goodies. You don't need to go anywhere to join the group, but folks expect an SLurl so here it is: SLurl. As a group member you can use the sandbox at that location or visit the near by store and social area.
Here is a great bit: one of the parts is named Ringtail - Hair (Get some real hair.)
UPDATE: Got this in a group notice
They are not lemurs. They are ringtailed cats.

Bare Rose Holiday Hunt Preview
Lucky Kitty Crew Exclusive Report - Bare Rose (SLurl) has a fun Holiday Hunt in the works and I was lucky enough to know someone who snuck me in for a preview. It starts with a note card that essentially tells you where the first prize is, but not exactly where. You have to do some hunting based on clues in the note card. Each prize is part of an outfit so you have to gather them all for a complete set. When you arrive at each location you should click the Info sign, choosing a language for the note card. Read carefully, this is your first clue.
Bare Rose Black Santa (boy) - You will get parts of a boy's outfit and a girl's outfit in each prize so you'll eventually want to set up folders for each. These Black Santa outfits are first. A gift sack with pose animation and hat are part of the first outfit.
Bare Rose Black Santa (girl) - You will also get more note cards (in many languages) with a landmark and a clue to the next prize. I'm not big on femme outfits, but this one is great. I plan on wearing it often.
Bare Rose Flurry Red (boy) - This is the next outfit and like the Black Santa, the boy's and girl's parts are mixed together. This reminds me of last year's outfit or one very similar that I got last year from B@R. Very punk in my eyes but I'm not one to know fashion. I just know I like this one.
Bare Rose Flurry Red (girl) - And this one, too, the girl's version. June Dion (the Bare Rose owner and designer, if you didn't know) is quite creative and has a unique style. The quality is great, too, with well-aligned textures and prims that need very little adjustment.
Bare Rose Hooded Red Coat - Don't tell anyone, but there is a bonus prize if you track down a thieving reindeer. This coat just plain rocks. The pet you see on my shoulder is included. Very cute.
Serenity will be sending an announcement when the hunt is open to the public, but Bare Rose members get to sneak in early. Show up at B@R's main store wearing an outfit from the shop and ask any store rep for a group invite. Not only will you be able to start the hunt early but you'll have access to an exclusive sandbox and cafe (built by our Serenity) for VIPs ... extra prizes there!

My Gripes & I Own Up to Them
Once again a Lucky Kitty (or someone close to a group member) has taken the low road to gripe about Serenity and the group in an obscure and anonymous forum rather than be grown up enough to stand by thier convictions. Fine. Freedom of speech can hurt, but try living without it. I may not agree with everything I hear in our group but I don't hide to stab others in the back. "Coward" I call you because a coward you are with your actions demonstrating your nature.
Before I get off my soapbox (Web) I would like to call out the "non-callers." If you show to claim a chair please take a moment to announce the new letter to the group. Especially if the person who made the original group chat post isn't at the chair when you win. Many of us don't stalk a chair until we win, calling letters to the Crew so that the odds of "our" letter coming up increases.

NTT Docomo Mobile Freebies
Communications giant NTT Docomo (SLurl) is willing to give you free stuff if you take a few moments to learn about the latest mobiles and then "vote" for your favorite. You can get an in-world copy of a mobile (I got a Nokia E71; Web) plus you get a goodies pack with some sweet headphones and a nice, scripted-for-style-change muffler. Beware the sheep outside. They are always staring at you. Thanks for finding this Serensei! I'm having fun exploring the sim despite the sheep.

Simbolic Translator
The Simbolic Translator has been featured in past group notices but folks keep submitting it to Serenity for posting anyway. Why? It is simple, it works well, and it is free. Go get yours now at Tragix Wilder's store (SLurl) and maybe leave a donation for all his hard work. This unit works at least as well as others selling for L$200 or more and better than many that are much more expensive. An example is that this is one of the few freebies that actually checks for updates and asks for them when available.

Message about things you find
Serenity, our group leader, sent out a notecard today. If you couldn't open it or don't look in Past Notices, here is the version she posted in the group IM.
Hello Crew, Just wanted to let you know that one simple thing. IF YOU DON'T MESSAGE ME OR TELL ME IT WON'T BE POSTED
Just saying it in chat and hoping someone writes it down and sends it to me, really isn't gonna help. :s Things that last for an hour or super time limited are understandable. But don't be surprised if you mention something in chat and don't send me anything that it'll recieve a post or anything.
This issue has come up a couple time with people asking for hints/cheats/etc. for hunts and they haven't been posted to the group. Seriously, yer wasting yer time asking here for the most part. I know not all the notices stay but for the most part SPEAK UP.
I highly appreciate the efforts many crew members have taken to take time to send me an IM and I try to thank you in the post itself. So good crew members please keep up the work. Bad crew members need to report to the Highly Mobile Oppression Palace. Thanks. ;3

Governor Linden Gives Freebies

So I popped into Bay City (SLurl) to grab the Freebies mentioned on the official SL™ blog and who did I find? Why it was Governor Linden! Sure, there is no "real" such person, but folks were pickled tink that she was there. Lucky Kitties Kira and Lerochelle begged to be teleported in to see the 'Supreme Overlord.' Also showing up was our 'Supreme Overlord' Serenity and Angela (not pictured below, but you can see her IM greeting to me).
Ms. Linden confirmed that the Mole avies used by the Linden Department of Public Works (wiki entry) were made by the very talented Wynx Whiplash. They got the avies free, but you can buy one at Extrovirtual.
Now if you are wondering why everyone is standing around, we were watching a Linden having trouble setting the box to be sold for L$0. Yep. The issue was mentioned on the official blog, too, but I figured it would be fixed by the time I got there. It wasn't, so I offered a free "giver' script. She declined my offer and put one of her own in -- then deleted it saying that a script showing her as the creator shouldn't be released in the wild. I choked back "But the script I'm happy to give you would deliver the contents in a folder without a copy of itself! And then folks wouldn't need to unpack the box!" Honestly, it is so hard to teach a Linden :::giggle:::
About the freebs ... some of the textures in the box are awesome! I look forward to using them. However, nearly every object that my wife rezzed from the pack was merely (oh! how can I put this politely?) ... Well, I'm sure that when I check the official work done by the moles it will be better than the mole-built freebies in the pack. Hey, I'm not a great builder (here's one), but get paid to do it by many who think I'm better than average. And these items were not quite up to being average.
Still, the freebs were generally nice and maybe I'm ultra picky. All-in-all, I do recommend heading out to get this Inventory-busting goodie (lots of stuff in the box). And if you see Governor Linden, say HI for me.

Not Free?
Why buy things in Second Life™ when so many nice things are FREE? 'Cause sometimes they are deliciously irresistible!
After seeing our beloved Serenkitty as a tasty treat in blue I was eager to get a similar outfit, so I did ... only L$99!! I went to one of the several YumYum locations the followed a landmark to the main store (SLurl) and dove into the pile of cupcakes they have there and grabbed some freebies, too. More about my visit at one of my personal blogs.

"We're not your Mommy"
Directly from Serenity's "We're not your Mommy" notecard (2008-05-10 23:45:30) with my hearty endorsement.
Kies, kinda tired of saying have the LM show on map to guide you or punch in the coordinates.
Seriously, no one has the time to tp everyone to every exact location and SL LMs don't always bring you to the spot. It happens.
So what can you do?
You can open the LM, find it in your inventory, right click it. Choose About Landmark. Then click the Show On Map button.
But that doesn't always work. So what else can you do?
Click the Map button at the bottom of the screen. Search the sim's name that you're in. Then type in the coordinates that are written on the LM themselves.
What else can you do?
Well you can complain to the group about being lost and someone might be nice and go tp you there. But most unlikely and Sereni will just bang her head against the wall cause people don't listen. e.e
Hopefully this cleared up for the people who're lost. Keep supporting the group, thanks. XDDD

Flamingos in SoHo!
Top Row (L to R) Lerochelle Destiny, Kira McCallen, Flamingo FredBottom Row (L to R) Bewkie Effingham, Serenity Semple, Uccello Poultry
It seemed like the whole Crew was in SoHo, New York for a Flamingo Hunt! Serenkitty reported 28 of the smelly birds. I found 27 and one humped my leg. It was so many you couldn't swing a dead dog without hitting one. But all-in-all we just had some great fun! The Hunt ended at Midnight so you can't go now, but I might tease you with some of the prizes in a later post. You might want to visit anyway as it is a pretty sim. If you like to scuba it would be a good way to kill about 30 minutes.
