-RC- Cluster Party!

Now if you're in LKC you got a post about the updated freebs at -RC- Cluster, one of my fave stores! Now, while these are cool - they are NOT as cool as the events that will be going on today~!

So I just want to spread the word of Happy Birthday to the -RC- Cluster store and creator Redd for making some of the most fun things I own in SL. If you're a big supporter like me you won't want to miss out on today's events. ^^

You can find more information on their blog HERE

Discover Outer Space

My brother was looking at the map one day to see what was around our newish mainland home and he found a region not connected to any other land but looking like it still belonged with the mainland so he teleported over and spent the next several hours playing. He had found the Mos Ainsley Spaceport, a Linden region with no clear purpose. It looks like the Moles (the Lab's construction critters) built it for fun. You can have fun, too, by getting into the spirit with a free space suit and set of coveralls from the round thing on the wall (SLurl). Then look around and click everything. That is how I found the clothes when I visited. One of the buttons in another room rezzes a shuttle you can fly around.

Lucky Chair Updates

The Crimson Shadow Lucky Chair (SLurl) has a new prize simply called Coat, but as you can see in the picture it is more than that. A cross chest tattoo is included as are shorts and a spiked collar (not shown). The boots are extra (these are the Ana thigh-highs) but many different styles would work well with this outfit. Time between letters is 20 minutes but there is usually a crowd because everyone knows that CS stuff is great.

Bare Rose has a new location for it's Lucky Chairs (SLurl) and you'll find a Lucky Fortunes there, too. A variety of prizes is available now, including a rather cute handbag, shoes, clothes for men and women, and more. Times vary in the five chairs, some as quick at two minutes! The setting is scenic and a building near by has some nice, affordable skins.

The PoP Dept. Store (yes, a shameless advert, I know) has upgraded their Lucky Cupcake to a Lucky Chair (SLurl) and to celebrate the prize is a Bamboo Bar set, a nice compliment to any tropical beach or club. Twenty minute timer but it is already proving popular so odds are someone is there to bump it. Lucky Tribe members also get 25 Kudos.

SL6B Freebies Preview

While working on the Isle of Lesbos exhibit for the Second Life 6th Birthday (SL6B) I'd occasionally take a break to check out some other builds. There's a lot of really cool stuff there from interactive displays, to games, to some great builds. But if you just want freebies, there are plenty for you to grab. The pic shows me at home flying one of the four free kites I found at the Future of SL Citizenship exhibit (SLurl). This is a fabulously animated toy and since I hate just standing around it gives my avie something fun to do. By the way, feel free to visit my place pictured above (SLurl). No freebies, but it's a nice place to relax.

Another great item is Jopsy's "SL6B Data Cruiser v1.1" from The Particle Laboratory (SLurl). It would remind you of an elegant manta ray that you can ride on, but it is a Matrix-display-like "data stream". Well, you have to see it. And then you have to ride it. Very cool. The UFO at the back, opposite the Cruiser is pretty cool, too, and also free. But just getting from the ground to where you can get the freebies is fun, too. One of the better builds at SL6B.

The Designer Showcase Network (SLurl) has an awesome live planetarium/globe that displays a map of Second Life® as if it was a starscape. Babel Translations (SLurl) promotes it's top-rated language translation services with a free Language Kiosk, a note-giving gadget you've probably seen in many popular stores.

You have to wait until the exhibits open to the public on the 23rd, but please make Lesbos@SL6B (SLurl) one of your first stops. I worked my bum off to build it and gave exhibit helper Randi a special gift for visitors.

Freebie with a Cause

Due to inventory size and lack of time, among other factors, I've gotten very choosy about the freebies I grab. But when I see one that can promote a cause I believe in, I go for it. The free NO H8 face art and duct tape pack from Ryker Beck's store Xodi (SLurl) is just such an item. This blog is not the place to go into the details of the cause (check here if you want to know more) but consider the real value of a freebie in your inventory. Does it just take up space or does it make a difference?

Fireworks from Basic Elements

Hoping to get something special for the Isle of Lesbos build at the Second Life 6th Birthday bash I popped into Basic Elements (SLurl) was was pleasantly surprised by some nice freebies: two nice flexi-prim plants and a fireworks generator. The latter has some pretty amazing features including sound and an extensive array of color options. Klyks Klees, the shop owner, is a very pleasant gentleman and a model for customer service.

NanoGunk for Men

NanoGunk has a new freebie for men, a translucent muscle shirt with store logo and a lizard emblazoned upon the front and the back. It looks fine on women, the one critter seeming to squeeze out from a comfy spot in the cleavage. Very amusing. A non-logo version is inside the store for L$100 plus styles with various graphics. The free one is in the store as well as near some past freebies (latex track suits) and boxes of note cards/landmarks helpful to Noobs (SLurl). If you haven't been to NanoGunk in a while, look for several new items in the store.

Vendor Support Month

Thanks to my Plurk buddy Yukio Ida I've learned about Vendor Support Month (Web), a slew of stores with some great goodies for just L$10 each. As expected, lots of clothes & jewelry, but there's a pretty nice house, some skins, furniture, and more in the mix.

If you haven't tried Plurk, check it out here. Many of us Kitties have regular contact with the designers, builders, and bloggers that shape our Second Lives that we might not have in-world.

Splash Aquatics Coin Hunt 3

Splash Aquatics (SLurl) has updated the prize for their coin hunt so if you missed the L$250-value Piranha pack, sorry. But you are in time to try for the L$900-value river creation kit. Some of the bits are shown here. With full mod/copy perms you can shape these elements to make your land a natural wonder inSL. An example is shown on site and soon I'll have my custom river all set for you to explore on my newly acquired land adjacent to Splash (I love the place so much that when land was available, I snapped it up).

Lantern Evolution Lucky Boards

Really cool lucky boards with some really well made items. In case waiting around isn't your thing they're also for sale around the store as well. Be advised the wait times are around 20-30 mins about a change and they can cycle through #s not just letters, but there are wildcards! Phr0zen really made my day by pointing these out. You don't want to miss them. ^^

Designer Showcase Network

You may have seen one of these 45 or so kiosks in-world (like this one at the Isle of Lesbos - SLurl) and wondered "What is it?"

The "Designer Showcase Network" is a service connecting content creators of Second Life with prospective customers. Residents of SL can subscribe to the DSN free of charge via any of the various kiosks, and chose among 9 channels. The Network then delivers promotional samples from the participating designers to them - no more than one per day and channel, randomly selected.

I'm subscribed to the Gadgets, Vehicles and Weapons and the Business, Tools and Services channels. and this morning I was given a *Stinkeye Armpit Hair* and a language translation services kiosk. Who knows what I'll get tomorrow. Check out the "Featured Designer Archive" (Web) to see some of the past freebs. As a merchant myself I'm thinking about how I could best leverage this for my business, but I know that I'm recommending this to all the vendors that I know and would like to have sending some freebs to me.

Crossover FanFic - LKC (Furries), Splinter Cell, Guitar Hero

"Your challenge is to write crossover fanfiction combining Splinter Cell and Guitar Hero. The story should use furries as a plot device!"

Serenity: As long as I'm left outta fanfiction, I'm all good.

A challenge? hehehe

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And so the story begins. Serenity, a.k.a. FluttahBulletKitteh or FBK for short, quietly sharpened her Guitar Hero drum sticks as she contemplated the best way to breach the terrorist enclave, kill every last mutha f***a in the room, and save the hostages.
FBK: "Hina, you're on point, Kira take up the rear," she whispered.
Kira: "Dun worry FBK, were gonna rock these mutha f*ckas ALLL nighhht Long," says Kira as she caresses her Guitar. "I've been practicing something, Special," says Kira as she quietly tunes her Guitar.
Meanwhile, Hina puts the finishing touches on the song he had carefully crafted for the Ocarina of Time
FBK: Gives the order, "Breach and clear on my mark."
Kira readies the Cupcake bomb
FBK: "Mark!"
Kira hits the button on her Guitar Hero guitar, and the door explodes with Clitter Sparkles. Hina storms the room and melodically begins playing the Ocarina, followed by FBK who uses her amazing Ninja Kitteh skills and sharpened Guitar Hero drumsticks...
Kira hears screams of amazement and wonder "La Chupacabra!!" and then runs headlong into the room.
FBK: "Lock and Load!'"
Kira looks from FBK to Hina, and then says, "Alright muthaf***ers, time to ROCK!" she then breaks out into Metallica's Enter Sandman.
Kira: "Say your prayers little one
Dont forget, my son
To include everyone"
"Tuck you in, warm within
Keep you free from sin
Till the sandman he comes"
"Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight"
"Exit light
Enter night"
"Take my hand
Off to never never land"
The terrorists give up immediately at the sight of FBK and her squad.
FBK: "We're an elite guitar playing, terrorist killing, squad of furries and hybrids. They send us in when nobody else can get the job done."
Kira: "Well, now that we've saved the hostages, I'm off to claim a Lucky Chair."
Swine Flu in SL?
Thanks to non-Kitty Daniel Voyager, fresh from the Teen Grid, for finding this timely Freeb (SLurl). And don't forget the ballerina pig from Wynx Whiplash's Extrovirtual Lucky Chair (SLurl) to ward off the flu.
Bewk Blogs XStreet
One of the places that is often over looked for freebies is XStreetSL. Serenity, logically does not post group notices for those items, and not many of the freebie blogs cover them entirely. So, I thought I'd have a go at blogging some things I found.
$0 - Amarylis Halter Top - This cute halter top is good quality. Nice pattern, good seams. Comes on two layers. If you like it, additional colors are a mere $25.
$0 - Victoria Jeans - Pair the halter with these freebie jeans, and make what I think is a pretty nice outfit. They also come in 15 other colors (not shown), and you dont even have to pay one penny for them!
$1 - Classic Black Heels - I spent about an hour searching for a pair of matching shoes for this outfit. This is the best I could come up with folks. They're black. They're heels. A staple in any wardrobe.
$1 - Pffiou! Standoffish Poses Set - I used "Deliciously Snooty" and "Part Deux" for this post. The pack contains 4 other poses, which is a steal for $1.
Ninja Cookie Posing @ The LKC HQ
$0 - Censored Cover Up - With all the drama going in world about "Adult Content", you might want to pick this up. Just slip it on if you see any Lindens around and you're sure to be covered. :P
$0 - Noir Lolita Shutter Shades - I still dont understand these. I guess they're more of a fashion thing than a functionally thing. Anyways, they're unisex and they look pretty fierce. This set also comes with a white pair of the glasses (not shown).
$0 - MiaSnow Wild Woman - Hair from the lucky chair.
$0 - Imagen - Irene/Este/Humo - Skin from the lucky chair.
So there was no way I was allowed to make a post without Damien. He's my smexy male alt. *OW!* Oh alright. And he wants me to tell you that he's available for the ladies for date night. *rolls her eyes*
On Damien
$0 - Victoria Jeans - Yep. Girl jeans. I slapped them on him, adjusted the crotch and bagginess. Et voila! Freebie jeans for the dude.
$1 - Bender T-Shirt - I'm trying guys! I'm trying! Grab this funny shirt to complete your ensemble.
More guy stuff soon I promise.
On Bewkie
$1 - Laynie Wear "Not Your Mothers Stripes" - This is an oldie and not the BEST shirt ever. But truthfully, it goes with the shoes which are fabulous. This set also comes with a pair of long stripey socks (not shown).
$0 - Victoria Jeans - Just showing how versatile these can be. I tinted these for a darker black jean color.
$1 - Lilith Lime - A nice pair of pumps with a ribbon bow on the front. This is a quality pair of shoes. While this yellowy color might not be your color of choice, they're only $1 and might be worth looking into the other colors for the full price.
$0 - Eden Earring "Yellow" - A cute pair of earrings to round off your yellow outfit. These are just a perfect size for my ears and they have a slight glow to them (if you have your graphics set to at least medium). And best of all, NO BLING!
$1 - CnS In Good Hands - Pretty cute pose.
*WHEW!* This blog entry took me nearly 4 hours to type up. (And as of yet I still haven't editted the photos to go along with it.) Hopefully, you all enjoyed it. Let me know what you think, and if you think I should write some more. Let me know by commenting, or by shouting at me me in world.
Until next time, keep your crotch tents in check!
Free Fun at Misp!
Recently I bought a bumper boat rezzer for the Isle of Lesbos so the ladies can have even more fun at the resort. No, that's a lie. I bought it because I wanted it and installed it at both the Isle of Lesbos and at home so I could ride a bumper boat whenever I wanted. So L$1500 later ...
If you don't have that kind of spare cash you can ride the bumper boats free in Misp, the home region of White's Works (SLurl), the store where I bought the rezzer. It was there that I test drove the product before buying it. I also considered the paddle boat and the jet ski, just two more of the many vehicles you can use for free. A large race track (see pic) fills the sim so you can try for free various motorcycles, scooters, and go karts, too. Other games and activities are available. Thank goodness the vehicles auto-delete when you are done riding them. While writing this post I crashed several, littering the sim with carnage.
New Something Blue Prize Camp
Something Blue (SLurl) has an updated prize camp -- 7 minutes for a nice hammock.
