Quick Witch Broom Picks

A search of XstreetSL (formerly SLex) shows quite a few witches brooms and I picked these as the nicer ones (click each pic to go to the item).

Halloween Freebies & Cheapies

Black Butteryfly (SLurl) has a cute pumpkin with paw cutout for free at the front of the store. Also there is a more standard face pumpkin, also free, a couple nice tank tops for L$10 each.

Neko Dollarbie

Thanks, Midori, for finding this great Dollarbie! Neko hair, skin, eyes, ears, tail, shape, and collar at Kalon (SLurl) for L$1! The skin looks pretty 'human' in this pic, said Serenity (and I agree). I would have spent the money just for the fun of it anyway, based on the high-quality picture.

But when you put it on you'll see black/orange lipstick and a spider tatt on the cheek definitely make this a holiday skin. Heavy, smeared eyeshadow and liner complete the anatomically correct skin. The hair and kitty bits are great with orange accents.

What is really, really cool, is that the set is packaged in a Halloween "snow globe" ... cool! Move all the contents to your inventory but leave the ghost texture and particle script inside and you have a great holiday decoration! This alone is worth the money. More, actually!

Loco Pocos Halloween

If you haven't been to Loco Pocos (SLurl) for the Halloween hunt yet, I gotta ask Why Not? This is lots of fun and you can win a L$350-value avatar (two actually ... one male one female ... both ferrets, I'm told) as well as take home a pumpkin-load of candy! So when you arrive, look for the ghostly pumpkin and click on it to be taken to the hunt.

When you arrive there are some very good pictograph signs telling you what to do. One of the signs directs you to change your Environment Settings to Midnight. That really enhances the experience and since you are not looking for tiny thing you don't need the bright midday sun. And turn the volume up. The sound effects are cool.

So 'wear' the pumpkin you are given and head down the street. As you get candy the pumpkin will fill up! Really fun to watch. If you knock on doors where "no one is home" something interesting sometimes happens, but you'll want to knock on the doors that have lighted windows with them. These are the "game" doors.

After you knock on a door you are given a choice Trick or Treat. Click either one, it doesn't matter which one. After a three-second count down you will get some candy, a special toy, or a key to a chest that gives out the avatar prize. Or you'll get a trick! Different things happen if you don't get the candy and when the effect stops you can try the door again. Click either Trick or Treat, again it doesn't matter which one.

Take all the candy you want. It is transferable and makes a nice little gift. The non-food prizes are not transferable. This picture shows me with pumpkin full of candy, a Candy Corn Ice Lolly in my mouth, and the hint of a Candy Corn Backpack in front of a door rewarding me with something other than candy.

The path takes you on a loop shaped like a backwards letter P and you can go around as many times as you want. My alt got 1/3 of the way through before winning a key to get the avatar. My main avatar spent a few hours in the little village and got only cavities from all the candy.

Here is the avie called Freida (the male is Freddy) in all her glory ... naked. Clothes are L$100 per item with accessories starting L$100. If you look in the tiny camp hut before you go into the main store you can get a free Baby Monitor that looks more or less like a mobile phone.

Freak Boutique Lucky Fortune

So I was headed to Freak Boutique to check out some outfits and happened upon a lucky fortune machine! And the prize was too sweet to pass up on! ^^

This outfit has it all! If you get too frusterated you can buy it for L$500. It comes with the outfit, notebook typing anim overrider, shoes, earrings, pretty much the works! It's so cute! ^^ Serensei must study furthur now about these lucky fortunes, best of luck to you all!

Isle of Lesbos Hunt: Halloween Devil Kitties

The Isle of Lesbos 2008 Halloween Prize Hunt started today!!!

This year's hunt is focused on fun. Three squads of Devil Kitties have been sent to the Isle and if you find them they have to give a present to you. Well, not all of them. Some will rudely run away. Simply touch any Devil Cat to see if you get a prize or not.

Ten prize-giving Devil Cats are on the Isle of Lesbos main sim (SLurl) and may occasionally be moved about. Men who wish the prizes from the Isle may contact Uccello Poultry. These are mostly handbags, backpacks, and pets (kinda).

Five Devil cats give Halloween Bear prizes in a haunted maze on the Isle of Lesbos Mall Sim (SLurl) . Just use the teleporter near the Halloween Hunt sign to enter the maze. Your goal is to reach the Southwest corner from the entrance, avoiding monsters and snagging prizes along the way. To really enjoy the maze, change your Environment Settings to Midnight and crank the volume.

Un Pick Group Item Camp

Been on an item camp kick lately. XD So here's another good halloween one, not like you don't have enough. You need to join the UnPick ::UP::date group (there's an inviter by the item camp chairs) and then for 30 mins each you can get one of either dresses. ^^

Sixty-Nine Group Item Camp

So for halloween there's an adorable item camp at 69 going on. You will need to join the :: Sixty Nine :: Update Group, which is now open enrollment. Head there on the 2nd floor by the hair and you will find a mass of people waiting to camp. It's 20 mins per item camp. Here's the prizes, all so adorable!

New Eloh Eliot Skins

The famous open-source free skins from Eloh Eliot have just gotten an update. Read more at Vint Falken's blog. With a little practice you can make your own fabulous skins. What? You find Adobe Photoshop too spendy? Try GIMP for free. It's what I used to make my FrootSkins from an Eloh template.

Burning Life '08 had a ton of great freebies, but my favorite is this Sand Lizard made by MenuBar Memorial and available with many other great freebs in a simple tent (SLurl or http://slurl.com/secondlife/Burning%20Life%20(Deep%20Hole)/36/180/2 if that doesn't work). But since the event is done you don't have a lot of time to grab the goodies! Toys and skins and clothes! Oh! My!

The lizard does more than 'burn' as shown here. He 'emotes' in other ways and has his own Magic 8 Ball.

I'm there, seen or not.

B@R Does It Again!

A new outfit for Halloween, the Pumpkin Elf, is in the Freebies section of Bare Rose (SLurl). I don't see why it can't be worn by women, too. It is very festive.

Many other nice things were announced today, too, so be sure to head on down soon! I'm gonna go get this combo outfit and furniture called I'm Home.

Paris New York

A fast, 2-minute cycle chair is at Look Inside Home Design (SLurl) with some sort of lounge chair as the usual prize. Nice stuff in this store. Very contemporary. That seems to be the overall design philosophy in the Paris New York sim. A wonderful re-creation of the Eiffel Tower is here (SLurl). One of the best I've seen in Second Life. I'll have to bring my wife sometime and do some kissing. Worth a look even if you don't want the freebies. I spoke with the owner, AnnMarie McCellan, and she is very nice. She and her husband, Maximilian Legend, built the infrastructure.

A long, 20-minute cycle chair is at Purple Rose Jewelry & Fashion (SLurl) with a cameo as the usual prize. I think this is the store with the earrings that "announce" what they are and where they are from whenever the avie wearing them arrives from teleport.

Pokin' around I found another jewelry store (SLurl) with a Lucky Chair but I didn't investigate Low-Prim High-Style (SLurl) and (SLurl). Free bangles from still another jewelry store, OC Designs (SLurl). Snookreation (SLurl) is a unique store and has a Lucky Chair.

With all these chairs I'm not surprised there is a Lucky Chair vendor near the middle of the sim. Other vendors line the street in mini-shops so be sure to check them out, too.

Yay, for looking around!

I popped into Lya (SLurl) to bump a 10 minute chair for some girly shoes I probably wouldn't wear and found this on the way out: Free Sunglasses and free scripts for making sunglasses! w00ters! Other freebs near by include a bikini, shoes, and the fab Facelight 3000.

Pink Fuel Lucky Chair

As you can see their default is kinda small but they have a size modify script in them and also a notecard that helps explain that. Also in this sweet set it comes with a plushie one to hugg, one that attachs to the head, arm, leg, and shoulder. I'm wearing the leg attachment one. ^^

The sculpties on this little cutie are amazing, he also blinks! ^^

Also those who's first time it'll be at Pink Fuel they have some dollarbie highlights. Even though I can't wear these because of the wings I wear there are these adorable chibi wing tattoos you can get from their gatchapon (think 25 cent machine toy machines), it's a dollarbie per random color but so cute!

Another cool thing to match with their adorable skully backpack is the dollarbie shirt to match. Sucha cute backpack, I hope to see more of her wonderful creations soon!

We Can't Have SLex

Long-time favorite place to shop when you couldn't log into the Second Life™ world or for when you wanted to send a gift, SL Exchange (SLex), is now Xstreet SL. My first thought is the site had to rebrand due to the Linden Labs© trademark policy. But the familiar letters SL are in this name, too. A quick search of the site didn't reveal the reasoning behind the change but did show that SLXTerminal Bigwig is still the avie in charge of the in-world terminals. And the vendor supplies (i.e., the server boxes) still have the older brand. If you search with the new name several products show up besides the vendor supplies. Dresses, for example, a sky box, and some furniture.

Sometimes I like to shop

With recent changes in the weapons policy at the Isle of Lesbos I thought I'd upgrade my collection of basic freebies with some nicer, high-end goods. So I popped into Gryphon Lair (SLurl) to get the nice sword and shield you see here. I found it on SLex first, but decided to check the store because prices in-world are sometimes lower and buying in-world saves the merchant the commission paid to the web vendor. Okies, I have a shop on SLex, too so I do value their service.

But as is my style, I wandered the shopping mall and found it to be a really attractive build. A common area has dancing, places to relax, artwork at ground-level, and a nice gallery in the central tree structure. Most stores are stocked with some nice builds and seem to be good values. And there are freebies.

The pic of me ready to fight was taken in a library (SLurl) in the mall. I could call it a book store, but all the books are free! Choose from Mark Twain, the classics, Jules Verne, and others. Maybe not the kind of freebies most folks are hunting, but variety is the middle name of Second Life™.

The next pic shows the first freeb I found, a nice collection of artworks (SLurl). This store is also pretty typical of the quality of goods I found. Many shops had clothes and there is even a branch of Silent Sparrow here. Certainly well worth a look if you like medieval or other "period" clothes and non-contemporary stylings.
